I've been remiss about getting video of myself out there in the big bad Internet world. Friends and fans have shot a few amateur vid's but, through no real fault of their own, the quality has been fairly poor....bad lighting in one case, bad audio in another. Nothing I'm willing to show to the world. The lack of live performance video is hampering my attempts to connect with more fans, but also, I strongly suspect it's holding me back from getting out-of-town gigs via SonicBids.
So I'm thrilled to report that a neighborhood friend, John Jones, who is a professional TV producer, did a terrific job videotaping our May 1 concert. I was just over at his office and watched as he sync'd his footage with the high-quality audio recording done by Paul McKeown of Tone Zone Sounds. John's pretty much finished, so in a day or two I'll be able to upload my first official music video.
Watching a few clips here and there, I realized I'd never really seen clear video of my hands in action on the piano. Wow....I almost look like a real pianist. :-) And my dear former teacher, Reynaldo Reyes, would be proud to see how nicely curved my fingers are on the keys. Well, except for those damned pinkies. They are straight as popsicle sticks most of the time. Somehow I've learned to create a pretty decent "singing tone" anyway with my right-hand pinkie...but it's probably a good thing no one is video- or audio-recording me trying to play Brahms....

new song #2 for May 1st live recording concert
Don't Cling
The city died that night
Except for one stubborn family
Left to clean up the place
It might have worked out alright
If they hadn't been so addicted
To treachery and disgrace
Don't cling to the ones
Who hurt you
Run away
Run away
Don't cling to the ones
Who hurt you
Run away
Even if you're bound to stay
The blood feuds decades long
The unequal distribution
Of money, love, time, and space..
And with their wretched games
They eventually extinguished
Last vestige of the human race.
Don't cling to the ones
Who hurt you
Run away
Run away
Don't cling to the ones
Who hurt you
Run away
Even if you're bound to stay
If they were the last people on earth
I would still be tempted
To lock my doors at night....
The city died that night
Except for one stubborn family
Left to clean up the place
It might have worked out alright
If they hadn't been so addicted
To treachery and disgrace
Don't cling to the ones
Who hurt you
Run away
Run away
Don't cling to the ones
Who hurt you
Run away
Even if you're bound to stay
The blood feuds decades long
The unequal distribution
Of money, love, time, and space..
And with their wretched games
They eventually extinguished
Last vestige of the human race.
Don't cling to the ones
Who hurt you
Run away
Run away
Don't cling to the ones
Who hurt you
Run away
Even if you're bound to stay
If they were the last people on earth
I would still be tempted
To lock my doors at night....

new song #1 for May 1st live recording concert
THE NEIGHBORS
She's not sure about the neighbors
They laugh a little bit too loud
And they seem awfully complacent
About the massing of the crowd;
She's not sure about the neighbors
They're always waltzing on the lawn
And while the towers burn around them
They sleep contented way past dawn.
She's not sure about the neighbors
When they smile at her and wave
Do they see an actual person
Or just another soul to save?
She's not sure about the neighbors
And wonders what will come to pass
When the sun falls on this empire
And turns the sands of time to glass.
She's not sure....about the neighbors....about the neighbors.....
She's not sure about the neighbors
They laugh a little bit too loud
And they seem awfully complacent
About the massing of the crowd;
She's not sure about the neighbors
They're always waltzing on the lawn
And while the towers burn around them
They sleep contented way past dawn.
She's not sure about the neighbors
When they smile at her and wave
Do they see an actual person
Or just another soul to save?
She's not sure about the neighbors
And wonders what will come to pass
When the sun falls on this empire
And turns the sands of time to glass.
She's not sure....about the neighbors....about the neighbors.....
