I've been remiss about getting video of myself out there in the big bad Internet world. Friends and fans have shot a few amateur vid's but, through no real fault of their own, the quality has been fairly poor....bad lighting in one case, bad audio in another. Nothing I'm willing to show to the world. The lack of live performance video is hampering my attempts to connect with more fans, but also, I strongly suspect it's holding me back from getting out-of-town gigs via SonicBids.
So I'm thrilled to report that a neighborhood friend, John Jones, who is a professional TV producer, did a terrific job videotaping our May 1 concert. I was just over at his office and watched as he sync'd his footage with the high-quality audio recording done by Paul McKeown of Tone Zone Sounds. John's pretty much finished, so in a day or two I'll be able to upload my first official music video.
Watching a few clips here and there, I realized I'd never really seen clear video of my hands in action on the piano. Wow....I almost look like a real pianist. :-) And my dear former teacher, Reynaldo Reyes, would be proud to see how nicely curved my fingers are on the keys. Well, except for those damned pinkies. They are straight as popsicle sticks most of the time. Somehow I've learned to create a pretty decent "singing tone" anyway with my right-hand pinkie...but it's probably a good thing no one is video- or audio-recording me trying to play Brahms....
